ADEX Singapore in April 11-14
The theme for the show is “Dedicated to the Ocean For a Plastic Free Future.”
Fins Attached will have a booth at the show and give a couple of presentations. We will also screen The Jaws Effect and Sharkwater Extinction. Earth Angels Agency and Fins Attached will be the hosts. These screenings will be leveraged to raise funds. We will organize a cocktail reception in association with the film screenings. Additionally, we will hold a preset conference to announce the goals and mission of Fins Attached and Earth Angels.
One presentation that Fins Attached will give will be on micro-plastics and there effect on sharks.
CITES in May 23 - June 03
18th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP), Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Fins Attached plans to be in attendance again as an observer NGO to fight for more shark species to be listed on Appendix II. Appendix II means that member nations of CITES must control and regulate the trade of the species so that it is not detrimental to the survival of the species.
Earth Angels will be in attendance. There will be a great deal of lobbying going on, vying for votes to pass the shark resolutions. Influencing votes is key.
Holding a press conference early in the conference is important for Earth Angels and Fins Attached.
ADEX Shanghai in July 5-7, Beijing in July 12-14
Similar to Singapore, Fins Attached and Earth Angels Agency will exhibit at both shows. The organizers have indicated they will donate the booth space in exchange for the the events and presentations we will provide to help attract show attendees.
We will also screen The Jaws Effect and Sharkwater Extinction. Earth Angels and Fins Attached will be the hosts. These screenings will be leveraged to raise funds. We can organize a cocktail reception in association with the film screenings. Additionally, we can hold a preset conference to announce the goals and mission of Fins Attached and Earth Angels Agency.
We will work with the show hosts to connect with government officials, especially those that were involved in the announcement from the Chinese Government that shark fin soup will not longer be served at official government functions.
The show organizers have asked Fins Attached to give a presentation about shark fins, the fin trade, shark fin soup, etc., and how that has led to the demise of sharks. Despite the reduced demand over recent years, it continues to be a problem. Too many sharks are being caught and they simply cannot reproduce fast enough.
